IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andre Edward
Fultz
December 20, 1949 – August 17, 2020
Andre Edward Fultz "Dre", 70 of Fort Washington, Maryland.
Andre's Journey
Andre Edward Fultz was born on December 20, 1949, to George and Martha Fultz in Washington, DC. He attended Neval Thomas Elementary School, H.D. Woodson Junior High School, and Spingarn Senior High School in Washington, DC. He graduated and went forward to the U.S. Navy Armed Forces. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Shangri La (CVS38) for four years as a Machinist Mate and served three years in the Reserves stationed at the Washington Navy Yard. He received numerous medals, awards, and citations during his tenure in Vietnam. They include: The Vietnam Service Medal and Ribbon, One Bronze Star Medal, and The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Ribbon. His tours of duty were in Spain, Italy, Brazil, Japan, Guantanamo Bay, the Philippines, Florida, Louisiana, Virginia, Washington State, Massachusetts, and California.
After his honorable discharge from the military, he married the love of his life, Jackie and to this union they had two beautiful children. After his military service, he was employed at the Potomac Electric Power Company. During his early years at PEPCO, he continued his education and received an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Washington Technical Institute. In August 2012, he retired as a Lead Electrical Mechanic with 41 years of service.
He was a hard-working, diligent person who was always on time and willing to assist and provide on the job training to others. He loved his family unconditionally and did whatever he had to do with no complaints. He was very passionate about his grandchildren, making sure they had everything they needed. He would give you the shirt off his back. He spent innumerable hours in the basement listening to his oldies but goodies music collection and on his computer. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, shopping on Amazon, and was an avid hunter. His fantasy was finding every gadget or tool ever made. He was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan even though they rarely made it to the playoffs or Superbowl since the franchise was established. He LOVED his water aerobics classes, only missing two classes in seven years. He was instrumental in getting other males to join the classes. He was full of life and kept others laughing with his crazy sense of humor. Back in the day, he loved racing his 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda who he claimed was "king" of the road.
On Monday, August 17, 2020, Andre (more affectionately called "Dre") transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home. Andre was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother-in-law, and uncle who loved without limits. Andre was full of personality and his presence could change the energy in a room instantly. To know him was to love him and be loved by him, it was his gift and purpose on this Earth.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Jackie; his children: Trenesha (John) Mimms and Sean Fultz; his mother, Martha; his father, George (deceased); grandchildren: Jared, Ehrynne, and Ethan; brother-in-law, Billy Givens; sister-in-law, Wanda (Ernest) Keys; niece, Jowanna Oates, and a host of other family members and friends.
