Andre Odell Abney, Sr., 54, of King George, VA, was called home on Wednesday, March 5, 2026, he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. After a year and half fight with cancer. Andre was born on February 2, 1972, in Cheverly, MD to Anthony and Alfreda Abney. He grew up in Washington, DC with his brothers, sisters and a host of cousins and friends. Andre graduated from H.D. Woodson High School in Washington DC. Then on to Glen Mills Academy in Pennsylvania, where he became an Electrician's Apprentice, briefly studied Heating and Air conditioning, but found his real passion Auto mechanics. Throughout his life, Andre was known to be the life of the party as quick to say or do something to make you laugh. He enjoyed fishing, handyman work, watching football and working on cars, and touched the lives of many through by just lending a helping hand. Andre is survived by his wife of 31 years, Roshunda, his beloved children Andre Jr., D'Andre, Andrea, Michelle, Damar, Anthony, Daisha, Daishon, Aliyah, and Andrew. 11 grandchildren. His sisters, Delores, Towanda, and Arnette, his brothers Anthony, Louis and Derrick. His god daughter Latoya Queen. And a host of nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles and cousins. Andre is preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Alfreda Abney and his daughter Angelica Abney.
Viewing, 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2026 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment, Heritage Memorial Cemetery, 13472 Poplar Hill Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
