ALVIN GLENN DRAKE (AGE 59) OF CLINTON, MARYLAND

Alvin Glenn Drake was the second child born to the late Robert Drake, Jr. and Ersenia Lynell Drake of Sumrall, Mississippi. Alvin was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and later relocated to Washington, D.C. with his family.

Alvin was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System where he graduated from Spingarn Senior High School in 1976. He later attended and graduated from the University of the District of Columbia with an Associate's Degree in Business.

Alvin received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jericho City of Praise in Washington, D.C. He remained a faithful member for many years and was later ordained as a Deacon in Landover, Maryland.

Alvin loved music and loved to sing, he also loved his sports and was a loyal Washington Redskin fan. He enjoyed writing poetry as well.   Alvin never married, but, was the proud godfather of Eugene Winchester. He loved his family and everyone he encountered he would enthusiastically mention that he had five sisters and one brother.  He always wanted people to meet his siblings! Alvin loved the taste of good food; one of his favorites from the grill was a hotdog and baked beans.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Jr. and Ersenia Drake. He leaves to cherish his memory, five sisters; Deborah Drake Gardner (DJ Lady D), Rhonda Drake Jones (Prince), Regina Drake-Zellars, Nellie Drake and Jacqueline Drake (James Barnes), one brother; Gerald Drake (Felicia), godson; Eugene Winchester, aunts; Ella Ruth Hayes and Annie Holley, uncles; Enoch Drake and Thomas Wedge, nieces; Keesha Gardner, Kiya Gardner Downs (Paul), Kori Gardner Mower (Ronnie), Jaya Jones and Rashauna Drake, nephews; Prince Jones, III (Apryl), Jovae' Jones, Jeremiah Drake, Jordan Drake, Kalen Gardner, Elijah Downs and Paul Downs, Jr., Prince Jones IV, Princeton Jones and a host of cousins, adopted nieces, nephews and many friends.

His Viewing will be 10:00 am until time of Service, 11:00 am, Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Jericho City of Praise Chapel, 8501 Jericho City Drive, Landover, Maryland 20785.

Interment, Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 4001 Suitland Road, Suitland, Maryland 20746.
