THOMAS, ALFRED DARNELL (AGE 66) OF WALDORF, MARYLAND

On Thursday July 23, 2020 Alfred Darnell Thomas affectionately known as "Darnell," "Dike," "Da," "Pop-Pop," "Unc," and "Dee" quietly transition into his eternal peace at his home in Waldorf, Maryland, surrounded by family.

Darnell was born in Newburg, Maryland to the late James and Berkline Thomas. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Darnell attended Charles County public schools and was raised as a Methodist. He was employed Harry Nice Bridge, Charles County Community College, Walmart, and Dollar Tree.  Darnell had many hobbies but his past time was playing cards, shooting pool, tractor trailer rides with Brandon, working on cars and projects (handyman).  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  "Pop-Pop Daycare," those words alone made him smile.  He was a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan. His all time favorite hobby was FISHING and even had names for his fishing rods:  "Wild Country," "My Brother," and "Mr. June." His famous words were "You could never go wrong with a day at the river."

Left to cherish many different fond memories are three daughters; Shardonna, Tiffaine and Laketta,  two sons, Brandon and Adrian, thirteen grandchildren, three granddaughters; Leaisa, Keymani and Kanae, ten grandsons; Cameron, James, Kadin, Marquay, Marquez, Marquese, Brandon, Jr, Jakari, Jamar and Khalil, sisters, Christine (Preston), Patricia, Angie (Spencer), Treasa and Kimberly, two sisters-in-law, Joyce and Silvia Thomas, aunts, Bishop Margaret Johnson and Hilda Ford, one godchild, Aaliyah, special friends, Clark, Don, Jr. Dorsey. Also, a host of  nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

His viewing will be held from 10am until time of service, 11am, Monday, August 10, 2020 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Interment Heritage Memorial Cemetery, 13472 Poplar Hill Road, Waldorf, Maryland.
