Stringer, Alease J. (Age 84) of Bowie, Maryland
Alease Julietta Stringer peacefully departed this life on April 29, 2026, in Largo, Maryland, at the age of 84.
Alease was born on April 6, 1942, in Charles County, Maryland, to the late Joseph Alfred Washington, Sr., and Cecelia Washington. She was raised in Charles County and attended Pomonkey High School, where she participated in the Future Teachers of America and the Glee Club. During those years, she built lifelong values rooted in honesty, integrity, and dedication to family.
Alease dedicated 32 years of exemplary service to the United States Government Printing Office, where she worked in Analytic Troubleshooting. Throughout her accomplished career, she was respected for her professionalism, intelligence, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence. She took great pride in both her professional accomplishments and the family she cared for deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Alfred Washington, Sr., and Cecelia Washington, and her beloved son, Alfred Garnell Stringer, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Alfred Garnell Stringer, Sr.; her children, Aldora, Eric (Donna); her grandchildren, Sean, Dakota, Logan, Nyoko, and Bryson; her great-grandchild, Ayden; her siblings, Thelma Florence, Joseph Washington, Jr., Audrey Epps; along with a host of extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will deeply miss her presence.
Alease enjoyed traveling, camping, shopping, cooking, entertaining, and bringing family together for dinners and special occasions. Her home was often filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories. She was known for being matter-of-fact, down-to-earth, and deeply devoted to her family. Those who knew her best will remember her honesty, strong values, and unwavering belief that telling the truth and living with integrity mattered above all else.
She will be remembered for her strength, dedication to family, caring spirit, wisdom, and the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Her viewing will be held from 10:00am until time of service 11:00am on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment, 1:00pm, Monday, June 15, 2026 Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
