Boone, Alberta Catherine (Age 68) of Capitol Heights, Maryland.
THE OBITUARY
Alberta Catherine Boone, affectionately known as "Bertie", was the seventh of eight children of the late Charles E. and Margaret A. Boone. She was born April 7, 1944, and departed this life on January 17, 2013 at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Maryland.
Preceding her in death were brothers, Charles, Jr. (Sonny), Joseph F., Alvin M. and James L. Boone (Snooky); sister, Margaret E. McCain (Marti); children, Cheryl Harris and Bobby Thompson.
Alberta grew up in Washington, DC and was educated in the DC Public School system. She worked in food service and collections positions for many years. She was most recently employed as a contractor with the Prince Georges County Government.
She worshipped and served at the Free Gospel Deliverance Temple, for 30 years, under the leadership of Bishop Ralph Green. She loved sharing the Word of God, that "You Must Be Born Again".
During her childhood Bertie loved to have tea parties and on rainy days she would get a sheet, place it on the floor and have a picnic. She also loved touring the Washington monuments and museums. Bertie loved to cook and entertain family and friends on special occasions. Aunt A'berta as she was affectionately called by her nieces and nephews was a treasure to our entire family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Theresa Johnson (Ron) grandchildren, Corey & Evita; Brenda Strom (Leon Sr.) grandchildren, Leon Jr. & Justin (Michelle); Joyce Grant (Bernard) grandchildren, Denee', DeAndre' & Denise; Taffy Simpson grandchildren, Tanisha, DeAngelo, Marvin Jr. & Troy; Eva Thompson; (grandchildren of the late Cheryl Harris, MacAuthur Jr., Raymond, Torrel & Ashley)and many great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Lillian C. Boone and brother, Melvin L. Boone (Lynn) along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Viewing, 10am until time of Service, 11am, Friday, January 25, 2013 at Church of the Great Commission, 5055 Allentown Road, Camp Springs, Maryland 20746. Interment, Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf, Maryland.
