On, Saturday, November 23, 2024, Akia Nicole Turner transitioned to eternal life.

On November 23, 2024, our beloved Akia Nicole Turner was suddenly taken from us at the tender age of 39. Born on January 6, 1985, at Washington Hospital Center, Akia was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. The cherished daughter of Patricia Ann Williams and Johnny Lee Anistead, she grew up with a fierce determination to make the most of her life. Known affectionately by her nicknames Kia, Keke, and Star, Akia graduated early from Suitland High School as a member of the Class of 2002, proudly earning her diploma at just 17 years old. Her love for learning and helping others led her to Ultimate Medical Academy, where she earned her associate degree in Health and Human Services.

Akia was many things: a devoted mother to her two children, Imari Hairston and Anton Caldwell Jr.; a proud grandmother to her precious Queen Kinard; and a loving caregiver who touched countless lives. She was known for her wisdom, generosity, and unyielding strength. Cooking brought her joy, Sam Smith's music lifted her spirits, and dancing made her the life of every gathering. Green was her favorite color—a perfect reflection of her vibrant, nurturing spirit. Family and friends remember Akia as ambitious, determined, caring, and always full of love. Her greatest inspirations were her children and granddaughter, who gave her life purpose and filled her heart with pride.

She leaves behind her mother, Patricia Ann Williams; her father, Johnny Lee Anistead; her children, Imari Hairston and Anton Caldwell Jr.; her granddaughter, Queen Kinard; her siblings, Montenette Odom (Durand), Uzella Owens, Shiya Williams, Rico William; and a host of loving relatives, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Akia was truly one of a kind—strong, kindhearted, and full of life. Her presence lit up every room, and her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
