Edwards, Aisha T.
Aisha Thelma Edwards, 48, of Alexandria, Virginia, transitioned peacefully on April 17, 2026. She was born on September 9, 1977, to Alvin E. Edwards and Wanda D. Hayes.
Affectionately known as “I,” Aisha had a lifelong passion for helping others. At just 21 years old, she became the youngest person to work on the Med-Surg unit at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. As a skilled Medical Assistant, she dedicated herself to caring for patients—especially the elderly—with compassion, dignity, and excellence.
Aisha also followed in her mother’s footsteps into the entertainment industry, where she built a dynamic career. She served as a Communications Assistant at WATA, Inc., Promotion Manager for Sobe Records in Miami, Stage and Production Assistant for the original McDonald’s Gospel Tour, Security for Capitol Concerts, and worked in Promotion, Marketing, and Sales for OY Boyz Records. Despite her success in entertainment, Aisha ultimately returned to her first love—patient care—providing dedicated service to several high-profile clients.
Aisha had a vibrant personality and a love for fashion. She was known for her signature style—sunglasses, 3-inch heels, and designer purses. Above all, she cherished her family. She was deeply devoted to her only sibling, her sister Tazzley, sharing a special and unbreakable bond. The loves of her life were her “three boys”: her son, Andre; her grandson, Mason; and her beloved pit bull, Raylo. She found immense joy in supporting Andre, and later Mason, at every football, basketball, and baseball game. Aisha also had an undeniable love for dogs.
Aisha was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Thelma Edwards and Horatia J. Hayes, and her godfather, Kahili Roundtree.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents, Alvin E. Edwards and Wanda D. Hayes; her beloved son, Andre Duane Suggs II; her treasured grandson, Andre Mason Suggs; her sister, Tazzley J. Mauden (Darrell); her nephews, Ti’Metrius L. Wimbush and Walyii D. Muden; her godparents, Cordell and Ricardo Weaver; her significant other, Davon Brown; and host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Her viewing is 10:00am until time of service 11:00am on Saturday, May 9, 2026, Oakland Baptist Church, 3408 King Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22302. Interment Private. Arrangements entrusted to Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
