Obituary

Ada H. Henry of Washington, DC transitioned November 6, 2025.

Ada Mae Henderson was born on January 31, 1943, in Prattville, Alabama, to the late Fair Hosea and Selena Bell Henderson. She was the fourth of six children.  Her parents raised her with foundation of Christianity at a young age in church.  It was in church that she made a commitment to her faith, giving her life to Christ and being baptized - a foundation that would guide her in all aspects of her life.

As a young adult, Ada moved to Washington, DC. Her career path led her to many endeavors and industries.  In every endeavor, Ada's quiet strength and unwavering commitment were evident, reflecting the meaningful impact she made throughout her varied career.

Ada enjoyed a variety of hobbies, with a special love for cooking, gardening, and traveling. She spent countless hours reading and printing recipes, always eager to try new dishes at family gatherings. Ada was renowned for her three-layer sweet potato cake, a cherished staple expected at every Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Her Alabama farming roots transformed her small city yard into a garden that blossomed with beans, collard greens, cabbage, watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes, cantaloupe, white potatoes, and more. Her home was a haven, filled with the bounty of her harvest and thriving plants that flourished under her gentle care, creating a botanical sanctuary. Whether reuniting with family in Alabama, accompanying her niece to work conferences, or embarking on a new adventure, she kept her luggage ready for a trip.

Ada was a woman of few words, but her thoughtful actions spoke volumes. She consistently considered the needs of others. Her devotion to her nieces, nephews, and extended family was unwavering. She was always mindful of their well-being. Ada's kindness, gentle spirit, and the love she shared so freely will be remembered.

Ada will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.
